Fredy Guarin’s proposed move to Chelsea could be off the cards despite the player’s admission that his agent did hold meetings with Blues boss Jose Mourinho, writes The
The Colombian international has long been linked with a transfer to Stamford Bridge, but Mourinho’s hopes of a deal being done look to have been dashed after the 27-year-old declared his wish to stay at Inter Milan.
Guarin has been an ever-present in Walter Mazzarri’s side this season, and having found his feet at the San Siro he seems reluctant to allow too much talk of a move away from the club – at least for the time being.
Guarin said of the situation: “I haven’t spoken to Mourinho. My agent has done that. I hope that Inter are thinking about how much I really want to stay here.
“There is something going on, I can definitely not deny that. But now I focus only on Inter and to do well here, we’ll see in the future.”
Chelsea had wanted to sign Guarin to strengthen their midfield options and galvanise their hunt for honours this season, but it looks as though they will now be forced to look elsewhere.
