Hull are considering making an offer for Newcastle veteran Shola Ameobi, but will face some resistance from Toon boss Alan Pardew who remains a fan of the striker, reports The
The 32-year-old is about to move into the final six months of his contract at St. James’ Park, and having just broken into the Nigeria national squad last season – at the age of 31 – the striker is keen to do all he can to ensure his seat on the plane to the World Cup in Brazil is booked.
His contract situation means he can at least talk to Hull manager Steve Bruce should he choose to do so from next month, though if a deal were to go through immediately Newcastle would likely ask for a small transfer fee. If the Tigers want to get their man on a free, they can get the deal done but the player will not be able to move to his new club until the summer.
With the exception of a brief loan spell at Stoke in 2008, where he made six appearances, Ameobi has spent his entire career at Newcastle, making almost 300 appearances and scoring over 50 goals since his debut in 2000.
