After defeating Chelsea in the Premier League for the first time in dramatic circumstances, Stoke City will hope to follow it up by inflicting Hull’s second home defeat of the season.
Hull were on course for a fine away win on Monday evening as Danny Graham ended his long goal drought against his former club, Swansea City. However, they could not prevent the hosts from scoring a second half equaliser, before they were denied what looked a clear penalty. In spite of that, they are in a healthy position after 15 games, having taken a respectable 18 points.
The victory over Jose Mourinho’s side came out of the blue for a Stoke side which had only won once in 12 Premier League games and had struggled for goals, but Oussama Assaidi’s 90th minute strike could give them great momentum after what has been a largely frustrating first four months under Mark Hughes.
The hosts will still be without Sone Aluko and Stephen Quinn for Saturday’s late kick-off, but are hoping that Paul McShane can recover from a hamstring injury in time to play.
Stoke have several injury worries, with goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and winger Matthew Etherington both doubtful along with Charlie Adam. They are already without Robert Huth and the suspended Jonathan Walters, while they hope Erik Pieters can return from a groin strain.
