Leaders Arsenal will attempt to become the first side in the Premier League this season to take points from the Etihad Stadium, when they take on Manchester City in a massive game on Saturday.
Man City will come into this game full of confidence after their remarkable comeback against Bayern Munich on Tuesday, as they claimed a famous win over the European champions. Their draw at Southampton in their last Premier League game brought an end to their three-match winning run, but they will fancy their chances of adding to their tally of 44 home goals in all competitions.
Arsenal were never really comfortable as they just about booked their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League despite defeat to Napoli. That result came after the disappointment of conceding an equaliser to Everton in the Premier League, which prevented them from opening a seven point gap at the top, which would have lessened the pressure on them somewhat going into this match and next week’s showdown with Chelsea.
For what is set up to be one of the games of the season, Man City will be without Micah Richards, who was forced off with an injury at the Allianz Arena. David Silva will return to Premier League action, but Stevan Jovetic and Matija Nastasic are both out.
Arsene Wenger is once again unable to call upon the likes of Bacary Sagna, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Abou Diaby and Yaya Sanogo. Lukas Podolski meanwhile, is nearing a return to fitness after over three months out.
