Manchester United winger Luis Nani will be out until the New Year after suffering a hamstring injury, BBC
The Portugal international adds to a growing injury list at Old Trafford, with Michael Carrick and Robin van Persie both out of action, while Wayne Rooney and captain Nemanja Vidic are both doubtful for Saturday’s game against struggling West Ham United.
Nani has not featured for the Red Devils since the defeat by Newcastle United on December 7, and throughout the season he has been used sparingly, though more regularly than in 2012-13. In his 10 appearances for the club this campaign, he has scored once, against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.
Man Utd boss David Moyes, who oversaw Nani sign a contract extension until the summer of 2018 back in September, said of the injury in Friday’s pre-match press conference: ‘Nani has got a hamstring injury and we were worried about that. It’s worse than we hoped so that might well keep him out for a few weeks.”
The champions have begun to look more of a threat in wide areas during their last two games, wins away to Aston Villa and Stoke City – in the Capital One Cup – with Antonio Valencia and youngster Adnan Januzaj showing impressive form.
