Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has downplayed speculation that striker Sergio Aguero could be the subject of an offer from La Liga giants Real Madrid, Sky
Aguero scored as City saw off Swansea 3-0 on Sunday, his 15th goal in his last 13 appearances, form that has led to suggestions Real Madrid are readying an attempt to take the former Atletico Madrid striker back to Spain next summer. Pellegrini is confident, however, that Aguero will remain at the Etihad Stadium.
“I don’t think Sergio wants to leave,” Pellegrini said. “That is not a problem for us. I don’t believe in that.”
Pellegrini added that Aguero is in a similar position to Yaya Toure, who has also been mentioned as attracting suitors. Both players have recently declared their happiness at Eastlands, and Pellegrini confirmed: “Both of them are very happy here and they will stay with us.”
Aguero joined City in 2011, having played for Atletico since a 2006 move from Independiente. The 25-year-old has 63 goals for his current club in 105 games, having scored 83 times for Atleti in 199 appearances.
