Michael Laudrup’s Swansea City take on in-form Newcastle United in what looks set to be a close encounter at the Liberty Stadium.
Swansea unsurprisingly lost at Manchester City on Sunday, which was their sixth league defeat of an up-and-down season. At present, they are severely weakened in attack because of injuries to Wilfried Bony and Miguel Michu, but they will need to find goals from somewhere if they are to pick up just their second home win of the season in the Premier League.
Victory over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday was Newcastle’s fourth in a row, and it was a result which lifted them to sixth in the Premier League, rendering the negativity which surrounded the club at the beginning of the season as a distant memory. If anything, the Magpies are now starting to look like the side that finished fifth two seasons ago.
Alvaro Vazquez is likely to keep his place as the lone striker for Swansea, who are waiting on the fitness of goalkeeper Michel Vorm, who was on the bench for the defeat at Man City. Defender Angel Rangel is still out.
Newcastle have no new injury problems, but winger Jonas Gutierrez remains out, along with defender Paul Dummett.
