Tottenham have drawn up a shortlist of potential candidates to replace manager Andre Villas-Boas, should the club decide to sack the Portuguese in the coming weeks, according to the Daily
So far this season, Tottenham have scored just nine Premier League goals, and currently lie ninth in the Premier League table ahead of Sunday’s game with Manchester United, following a run of three games without a win. This comes despite heavy investment during the summer, as Spurs twice broke their transfer record, in signing Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela.
As a result, pressure has mounted on Villas-Boas, who has spent 16 months at the helm in North London. His current deal runs out at the end of next season, but Murat Yakin, manager of Swiss champions Basel, is thought to be one of the people on Tottenham’s radar, if they are forced to dismiss Villas-Boas in the near future.
Yakin has led Basel to victories home and away against Chelsea in the Champions League this season, and they lead the Swiss Super League by two points. However, Villas-Boas retains the support of his players, with midfielder Lewis Holtby saying that they ‘don’t listen’ to the speculation that is surrounding the former Chelsea boss.
