Arsenal could be set to finally make a serious move to tempt Nottingham Forest starlet Jamaal Lascelles to the Emirates, according to talkSPORT.
Arsenal’s chief scout, Steve Rowley, was spotted watching Forest’s recent 1-1 draw with Bolton and it is believed his task that day was to run the rule over the youngster, who could finally be looking at following fellow Forest alumni Jermaine Jenas, Michael Dawson and Andy Reid into the Premier League.
At the time of Arsenal’s initial interest, Tottenham, Man City and Liverpool were also thought to be interested – but it appears to be the Gunners who have retained the firmest interest.
Lascelles made his England U-18 debut in 2011, but quickly moved up to U-19 level, where he made eight appearances. He has featured regularly for England U-20s, and was a part of their U-20 World Cup squad in 2013.
The player’s contract at Forest runs until 2016, and this should at least offer his club the security of knowing they can get a bit of cash for one of their brightest young prospects should the temptation to do business prove too great to resist.
