Arsenal defender Sagna linked with Man City move

Manchester City are reportedly considering an attempt to sign Arsenal right-back Bacary Sagna, who is out of contract in the summer, according to the Metro.

Arsenal have been in negotiations with Sagna over a possible contract extension for several months, but thus far they have failed to reach an agreement with the Frenchman and secure his long-term future at the Emirates Stadium, where he has plied his trade since the summer of 2007.

The deal Arsenal have put on the table for Sagna is said to be worth £60,000 per week, but that has reportedly been dwarfed by higher salaries that are being offered by Monaco and Galatasaray, who are also interested in signing the 30-year-old, who has been a regular throughout his time with the Gunners.

Man City are willing to compete with Sagna’s other potential suitors by offering him a similarly lucrative contract, and should he make the move to the Etihad Stadium – which may depend on Arsenal’s level of success this season – he would follow in the footsteps of former teammates Emmanuel Adebayor, Gael Clichy, Samir Nasri and Kolo Toure, all of whom left Arsenal for the Citizens.
