Arsenal’s attempt to sign former Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou on loan from Lille has been rebuffed, Sky
The Gunners and an unnamed German team approached Lille over the chances of taking Kalou on loan for the rest of the season, but Lille rejected their advances as they would be unable to sign a replacement before the transfer deadline.
Kalou, 28, is said to have been open to returning to the Premier League after spending six years at Stamford Bridge. He left London in 2012 after 251 games for the Blues and 60 goals.
While at Chelsea, Kalou won the Premier League in 2009-10, the FA Cup on four occasions and the Champions League.
Kalou began his career at Feyenoord, playing more than 80 games for the Rotterdam side. He is also an Ivory Coast international with more than 60 caps to his name.
Since joining Les Dogues Kalou has played more than 50 times, scoring 22 goals, including 16 in 37 in his first season in France.
