Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has claimed that Chelsea’s winter spending will be complete once Egypt international Mohamed Salah completes his switch to Stamford Bridge from Basel, according to The
Salah has not yet agreed personal terms or passed his medical at the club, but these are not thought to represent too big of an obstacle, and are understood to be set for completion before too long.
With Bertrand Traore having joined on New Year’s Day, closely followed by the £20m re-signing of Nemanja Matic, Salah would be the third new signing at the club this month – and Mourinho is happy to stick at that.
“Hopefully we are done,” said the former Real Madrid boss.
“We are not bringing in a striker in this window. We are trying to keep the level and improve, to improve the team, to improve the squad, to change the style of play.
“And we’re still trying to get results and still trying to win matches.”
Chelsea find themselves third in the Premier League, just two points behind leaders Arsenal, and a comfortable six ahead of fourth placed Liverpool.
