Two sides unbeaten in their first two games of 2014 go head-to-head, as Everton look to beat Norwich City for the first time since 2005.
Roberto Martinez’ team cruised into the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 4-0 win over Championship side Queens Park Rangers last time out, a game that delivered yet another goal for right-back Seamus Coleman, who has emerged as one of the Premier League’s in-form players. That result came just days after they scored late to earn a point at Stoke City, but it was not enough to keep them in the top four.
Norwich will have been the happier side after their 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on New Year’s Day, as defeat would have left them in a perilous position just above the bottom three. They followed that up with a draw against Fulham in the FA Cup to ensure a replay that they could do without. The Canaries’ next two league fixtures are both at home, so anything gained here will be a welcome bonus.
Everton are still without Darron Gibson, Phil Jagielka and Arouna Kone, while Ross Barkley, Leighton Baines and Sylvain Distin will all be assessed ahead of the game.
The away side welcome back Leroy Fer after a one-match ban, but several players remain out, including Elliott Bennett, Alexander Tettey, Anthony Pilkington, Jonathan Howson and Michael Turner.
