Liverpool and Tottenham could be set to do battle for the services of former Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou, according to The
Kalou spent six years at Chelsea before being released at the end of his contract in July 2012, and went on to join French outfit Lille. He has settled in well in France, scoring 17 goals in 40 competitive games for the club thus far, but a surprise return to the Premier League could be on the Ivorian’s horizon as the high-flying Premier League rivals seek new year reinforcements.
It is believed that Kalou could be available for around £2.5m – and neither Brendan Rodgers or Tim Sherwood see this as much of an obstacle. Kalou has been linked with moves to other continental clubs, such as Besiktas and Italian outfit Roma, but it has been said that were he to leave Lille he would prefer a return to England if one became available.
Kalou’s six years spent at Chelsea involved 251 appearances and 60 goals, in a spell where he also lifted the Premier League, Uefa Champions League, four FA Cup and the Capital One Cup trophies.
