Liverpool set to miss out on January deal for Barcelona’s Tello

Liverpool look set miss out on a loan deal for Barcelona winger Cristian Tello, after the player insisted that he wanted to stay at the Nou Camp until the summer, reports the

Metro.

Tello’s future with the Spanish giants has been called into question by his lack of game time this season under manager Gerardo Martino. Overall, the once-capped Spain international has only started two La Liga matches, and has only completed the full 90 minutes once in all competitions.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are thought to be looking for a winger to provide more competition for the likes of Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho, with Victor Moses set to return to Chelsea at the end of the season after his season-long loan.

The 22-year-old Tello was thought to be looking for a move as he looks to force his way into the Spain squad for their World Cup defence this summer, and while Liverpool will be encouraged to enter negotiations over the summer, Tello insists that he will stay with Barcelona for the time being. He said: ‘I will definitely stay at Barcelona until June, then we will see in the summer.’
