Manchester City will not be signing Porto pair Fernando and Eliaquim Mangala, Sky
It had been suggested City would seal the duo before the transfer deadline at 11pm on Friday evening and talks were hold through the day over a £35m combined swoop.
A flight from Portugal to Manchester was supposedly arranged but then cancelled, signalling that the players would remain in Iberia for the foreseeable future.
Speaking at a Press conference, manager Manuel Pellegrini hinted the full events of the day would eventually be revealed.
“For the moment, there is no news,” he said. “On (Saturday) everyone will know what has happened.
“Tomorrow you will know what happened. It’s the same thing (for players leaving). There is a lot of business but no news.”
Brazil-born Fernando moved to Porto from Vila Nova in 2007 and became a Portuguese citizen in late 2013. A holding midfielder, the 26-year-old made three appearances for the Brazil Under-20 side.
Mangala is a France international centre-back who moved to Porto in 2011 from Belgian side Standard Liege. The 22-year-old made his national team debut in 2013.
It was claimed that Javi Garcia and Marcos Lopes could have gone to Porto in return had the deal gone ahead.
