Man City have rejected a surprise approach for defender Micah Richards from Liverpool, reports The
The England defender, 25, was the subject of a loan bid from Merseyside, but manager Manuel Pellegrini has told counterpart Brendan Rodgers that Richards won’t be making the switch.
Rodgers is believed to be on the lookout to sign a right-back on transfer deadline day with Glen Johnson struggling for full fitness, and is believed to have made an enquiry about the availability of Richards.
Injury troubles, coupled with the great form of fellow City defender Pablo Zabaleta have meant first team opportunities for Richards have been few and far between, and the former Leeds youth is thought to be open to leaving the club in an effort to get some first team football.
Any hopes of a switch to Anfield appear to have been dashed by Chilean boss Pellegrini, and Richards looks set to remain at the Etihad Stadium and have to fight for his place.
Richards made his England debut in 2006, and has won 13 senior caps. He is also approaching 200 City appearances.
