Man United could be preparing for a double swoop on Madrid, with Atletico’s Koke and Real defender Fabio Coentrao on David Moyes’ January sales shopping list, according to The
Coentrao had appeared set to secure a deadline day move to Old Trafford back at the end of the previous transfer window, but Real decided to pull the plug on the deal at the eleventh hour after missing out on their own target, Guilherme Siqueira.
However, he has failed to establish himself in Los Blancos’ first team, and manager Carlo Ancelotti could be ready to listen to offers for the 25-year-old after preferring young left-backs Nacho and Jorge Casado in recent weeks.
Coentrao, who joined the Spanish outfit from Benfica in 2011 for €30m with Ezequiel Garay going in the other direction, is still in Man United’s crosshairs and could be set to finally get his move to the Premier League champions this time around, depending on United’s degree of interest of course.
Koke, meanwhile, was thought to be the subject of a recent meeting between United’s people and Atletico’s, and Moyes himself was spotted at the Vicente Calderon in what was thought to be a first-hand scouting mission.
The 21-year-old would be costly, however. He only signed a new deal with Atletico back in September, and could set the Red Devils back around £30m if any kind of negotiations are going to progress.
