Manchester City manager Manuel Pelligrini has claimed that striker Alvaro Negredo’s injury is not a worry for the team, according to Sky
The 28-year-old suffered a shoulder injury and had his arm in a sling following an awkward fall in the 9-0 aggregate win over West Ham in the Capital One Cup semi-final.
Negredo scored twice in the 3-0 second leg win over the Hammers, adding to the hat-trick he scored in the first match of the semi-final.
Despite looking set to miss out on the FA Cup fourth-round home game against Watford on Saturday, the Chilean has reassured that Negredo should be back to fitness within the week.
“Alvaro is not ready for Saturday. We will see in the next days how his shoulder reacts from the work he is doing. Maybe in a week he will be okay,” said Pelligrini.
The Spain striker has scored 23 times in 33 appearances for City this season, including nine goals in his past six games.
Negredo is also a doubt for City’s next Premier League game against Tottenham on Wednesday.
