Arsenal face a tough trip to Southampton as they look to extend their winning run to eight matches and remain top of the Premier League.
It has been a turbulent start to 2014 for the ninth-placed hosts, with the resignation of Nicola Cortese and the suspension of Pablo Osvaldo after a training ground altercation, but their performances have not been too badly affected. In their last Premier League game at Sunderland, they could not have played much better, dominating long periods of the game, but ended up ruing their failure to make the game safe.
Arsene Wenger surprised a fair few people by selecting an almost full-strength starting line-up for Arsenal’s FA Cup tie against League One side Coventry City on Friday, but they succeeded in keeping their momentum going in what could prove to be the season in which they end their trophy drought. Lukas Podolski also grabbed his chance with both hands, scoring twice as the Gunners advanced to round five.
Osvaldo misses out for Southampton, as do Dejan Lovren and Gaston Ramirez, who were both stretchered off at the Stadium of Light. Midfielder Victor Wanyama faces a race against time to be fit.
Jack Wilshere is doubtful for Arsenal, who continue to be without long-term absentees Abou Diaby and Theo Walcott.
