The father of Tottenham winger Erik Lamela has claimed that his son is unhappy in North London and would like to return to Italy, ESPN
Lamela only joined Tottenham from Roma in August, for a club record fee of £30m. He was one of several summer signings, including Roberto Soldado, Nacer Chadli, Vlad Chiriches and Etienne Capoue.
However, he has struggled to settle throughout his short time in England, and has played infrequently; making just three Premier League starts, while his only goal came in the Europa League against Sheriff Tiraspol.
When he spoke to Italian media, Lamela’s father, Jose, admitted that the player is finding life difficult in England and wants to return to Italy, but he refused to speculate on which clubs may be interested in handing Lamela a return to Serie A.
He said: “Erik is not happy and wants to go back to Italy. He has been linked with Lazio, but I don’t know anything about this. Could he re-join Roma? I don’t know. Tottenham does not want him to leave in January.”
