West Bromwich Albion striker Shane Long is set to have a medical at Hull City after the two clubs agreed on a fee for the Republic of Ireland international, according to the Daily
Long looked certain to join Hull towards the end of the summer transfer window, only for time to run out and West Brom to call off the deal. However, the Tigers are on the verge of securing the 26-year-old, who has three goals in 16 appearances for Albion this season.
Hull have returned to their pursuit of Long after they failed to land Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher, the newspaper claims. Steve Bruce’s side made a £7m bid for Fletcher – who is not guaranteed a starting place at the Stadium of Light – but that offer fell short of Sunderland’s valuation.
West Brom owner Jeremy Peace is said to be willing to cash in on Long, whose contract expires at the end of the current campaign. For Long, it would mark the end of an Albion career which has lasted since the summer of 2011, having helped the Baggies to two impressive top half finishes.
