Wolfsburg Director of Sport Klaus Allofs has claimed that the Bundesliga club are moving closer to completing a deal to sign Chelsea attacking midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, writes the Independent
Wolfsburg have made no secret of their desire to sign the 22-year-old Belgian, but they would prefer to acquire him on a permanent basis, while Chelsea are hoping for a loan deal.
Speaking to German newspaper Wolfsburger Nachrichten, Allofs was still confident of pulling off the transfer on Wolfsburg’s preferred terms. He said: ‘It’s not that we can confirm the deal just yet, but we are no longer so far apart with Chelsea that we can’t bridge the differences.’
De Bruyne has been a Chelsea player since January 2012, when he was signed by then manager Andre Villas-Boas, but this is his first season of playing in Blues’ first-team, having been sent back on loan to previous club Genk upon arrival, before spending the whole of last season at Wolfsburg’s rivals, Werder Bremen.
