Anderson has denied giving an interview in which he claimed that a number of players are desperate to leave Manchester United, ESPN
The Brazil midfielder did depart Old Trafford in the transfer window, joining Fiorentina on loan for the rest of the season, and was quoted as saying there was an exodus-in-waiting at the Premier League champions.
“I am sure that lots of players want out,” Anderson was alleged to have said. “Especially people like myself and Nani, who have been in Manchester for seven or eight years.”
But the former Porto player has move to clarify his position, releasing a statement via Instagram in which he distanced himself from the comments.
“I’m shocked and surprised with a supposed interview that never existed,” Anderson wrote. “I never gave any interview, much less to say bad things about a club that I love, a club where I grew up so much and that gave me so much.”
Anderson moved to United from Porto in 2007, making 179 appearances and winning four league titles and the Champions League in 2008.
