Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is facing a possible two match ban for his behaviour in the Champions League on Wednesday, according to the
The 23-year-old was sent off in the 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich and made an obscene gesture on his way off the pitch.
The Polish international must now wait to see if referee Nicola Rizzoli included the incident in his report before Uefa can make a decision on the player.
If the incident is included in the referee’s report then UEFA’s disciplinary committee will decide whether or not it is deemed as unsporting conduct, which could carry an extra one-match ban on top of the red card.
The Arsenal goalkeeper was dismissed after bringing down Bayern’s Arjen Robben in the box and it was deemed a penalty and a sending off by the referee.
The ban will exclude Szczesny from the Gunners second leg match against the Germans and the suspension could continue into next season’s Champions League if they are knocked out by the holders.
Despite the gesture happening as the goalkeeper made his way from the pitch, the fourth official can pass on the information or video evidence can be shown if the referee does not see incident.
