Tottenham Hotspur captain Michael Dawson is pleased to see Jan Vertonghen and Younes Kaboul return to fitness, the club’s official
Dawson added that competition for places can only be a good thing and will sharpen up himself and his fellow defenders.
“It’s always good to have players back,” Dawson said. “We’ve the Europa League starting again soon as well, so there are plenty of games.
“Jan, for me, is a world-class player. He’s cultured on the ball and a top defender as well. We’ve top players who want to play, so competition is high and you know you have to perform well to stay in the team.
“We all want the game time and we’re all pushing each other.”
Kaboul and Belgium international Vertonghen were both involved in Tottenham’s 1-1 draw with Hull City in their last Premier League outing, Vertonghen starting the game and Kaboul an unused substitute.
Vertonghen had missed a dozen games with an ankle injury, while Kaboul suffered a thigh problem in November.
