The executive director of Dnipro, Andriy Rusol, has said he expects Yehven Konoplyanka to join Liverpool in the summer, Team
Liverpool failed with a January approach for the winger and it was said that the Ukrainian club’s president, Igor Kolomoisky, vetoed the deal, but that’s not the case according to Rusol.
“Kolomoisky gave the go-ahead immediately. It is not our fault, Liverpool representatives could have arrived a day or two earlier,” he said. “Up to the deadline we were waiting for the transfer of money from Liverpool. But this did not happen.”
Rusol added that a fee was agreed but the deal took too long to complete from the Liverpool side. Despite the transfer’s collapse, Konoplyanka is still expected to go to Anfield.
“I am a thousand per cent sure that Liverpool will try again in the summer and then we’ll let him go,” Rusol is quoted as telling the Ukrainian Press.
“Money was not the problem, the problem was that Liverpool came too late. But in the summer everything will be fine. If Liverpool, in the summer, report to us, Yevhen will still go to this club.”
