Samuel Eto’o believes winning the Premier League title with Chelsea would make his career complete, Sky
Eto’o played most of the game as Chelsea defeated Manchester City on Monday to go level on points with Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
Chelsea are now on 53 points, two behind leaders Arsenal, and Eto’o hopes to make it a hat-trick of major league crowns after victory in Spain and Italy.
“I had the chance to play in Spain, we won,” the former Barcelona striker told Le Monde. “I had the chance to play in Italy, we won. And I hope that, thanks to God, I will also win a title in England. And I think my career will be complete.”
Eto’o was victorious in Serie A with Inter, under Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, and confirmed the chance to link up with the Portuguese was one of the major reasons behind his decision to move to Stamford Bridge.
“The Chelsea opportunity ended up presenting itself. Every great player who had a career like I had would have gone to a club like Chelsea,” he said.
“Jose weighed on my decision to come to Chelsea around 80% because I had worked with him at Inter…it went extremely well.
“This went extremely well. We had a fantastic team. That season [2009-2010] we practically won everything.”
