Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o is said to have been left ‘very angry’ after comments made by manager Jose Mourinho in a private conversation caught by French media company Canal Plus, reports Telegraph.
He said: “I have one (Eto’o) but he is 32, maybe 35, who knows?”
And while the Blues boss brushed off his comments in Tuesday’s press conference, claiming the striker has ‘no reason to be upset’ by comments that he did not mean seriously.
However Eto’o’s former Cameroon coach Claude Leroy, who included the striker in his international set up since the age of 17, has said that the striker is in fact angered by Mourinho.
Leroy told African TV: “I got him on the phone before coming here and he is very angry. Moreover Mourinho went to see him before he looks at the pictures telling him not to believe everything that was being said. And that he said nothing about him. But I can tell you that Samuel did not like it at all.”
At the pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League tie with Galatasaray Mourinho tried to gloss over his comments and instead attacked the gathered press and insisted they should feel embarrassed by Canal Plus’ actions in recording an off air conversation.
