Everton winger Aiden McGeady is determined to reach full fitness to show the fans his ability, according to Sky
The 27-year-old signed for Everton in the January transfer window from Spartak Moscow but understands it takes time to adapt the Premier League.
Toffees fans were able to get a glimpse of what they had signed when McGeady made his home debut in the 2-1 win over Aston Villa at the weekend.
“I was obviously a little bit apprehensive at the start, a little bit nervous. In the first half I thought I did okay and the second half I probably let myself down a couple of times,” said McGeady.
“But I kept going to the end and I’m just happy that we won. It was a great first game for me – not because I played great, because I didn’t – but because the team ultimately won and that’s the main thing.”
Despite his bright start, the Republic of Ireland international has stated that he needs time to reach his full potential and said that it will take time for him to build his match sharpness.
“There were a few little things I was disappointed with. If I was on my game I know I wouldn’t have done those things, but I can’t be too harsh on myself because I need to bide my time and be patient,” he added.
“Hopefully in the coming months I can get up to full speed.”
