Evra appearances trigger new Man Utd contract

Patrice Evra’s Manchester United contract will automatically roll over, ESPN has reported, after the left-back played the number of games stipulated to trigger an extension.

Only once this season has Evra not started in the Premier League under David Moyes, meaning his contract at the club will automatically extend. It had been due to expire this summer.

Evra can however choose if he wants to remain with United or move on. Switches to Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain have been mooted while Moyes has attempted to sign a new left-back on a number of occasions, making approaches for Everton’s Leighton Baines and Real Madrid’s Fabio Coentrao.

Moyes is however making plans to have Evra next season, but still wants to sign a new left-back to rival Evra for the position.

The 32-year-old France international joined United from Monaco in 2006, having previously played for Nice, Monza and Marsala. Evra has made more than 50 appearances for Les Bleus and over 350 for United, winning five Premier League titles and the Champions League as well as a host of other trophies.
