Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are all in a race to sign unsettled Bayern Munich star Toni Kroos this summer, according to The
The Bayern midfielder has had contract talks break down with his club which has put the Premier League’s top clubs on red alert for a £25 million summer transfer.
Kroos has less than 18 months left on his current contract but has told the German side that he wants his wages upped from £60,000-a-week to £150,000-a-week.
Now with the club and player in a contract stand-off the Champions League winners could offload the player at the end of the season.
Bayern bosses have refused to speak to the 24-year-old until he lowers his demands and even relegated the midfielder to the bench for the first time in two months on Sunday.
Manchester United manager David Moyes had appeared to be best placed to land the unsettled player after meeting with Kroos’ agent last month but if there is no movement on contract talks then the Premier League’s top sides will battle it out for the player’s signature.
Former Germany midfielder Gunter Netzer has reiterated that Kroos will have to lower his expectations or move away from the club following his employer’s stance.
“I would advise Toni Kroos not to overplay his hand,” said Netzer.
“There are a few players who cannot be replaced, but he is not one of them. He is playing a risky game at Bayern. The club are determined not to pay huge wages to all their players, in order to stay healthy financially.”
