Hazard happy with Chelsea draw

Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard believes the point taken from Tuesday’s draw with West Bromwich Albion will be a useful one as the season goes along, Sky Sports has reported.

Jose Mourinho’s side took the lead through Branislav Ivanovic but were pegged back by full-time when Victor Anichebe levelled for the Baggies. The result leaves Chelsea top of the Premier League table by two points, but second-place Arsenal have a game in hand, to be played on Wednesday at home to Manchester United.

“It was a puzzling game,” Hazard told Chelsea’s official website. “At 1-0 I thought we were managing the match well, but we couldn’t get the second goal which would have given us protection, and then the game became difficult.

“I tried to play, we tried to play, but it was a very difficult game,” Hazard continued. “It was very complicated whenever I had the ball because there were two or three opponents there.

“They had a plan to defend, as was the case when we played West Ham. It was a similar situation except at the end West Brom pushed a lot, their crowd got behind them and it became complicated.”

But the Belgium midfielder, signed from Lille in 2012, is adamant that in such a tight title race, the draw at the Hawthorns is one that will look a better result later in the campaign.

“It’s still a point even if many people are disappointed. I think this is a point that will count,” Hazard said. “You cannot win every game and it was important we didn’t lose. We’ll improve in the future and we will try to win the next game.”
