Inter confident of Vidic deal

Inter expect to sign Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic for next season when his contract with the Premier League champions expires, Sky Sports has reported.

The Nerazzurri’s president, Erick Thohir, told reporters that Inter are extremely close to nabbing the Serbian. “I can say that the deal is done at 90 percent,” Thohir said.

“When everything is sealed, we will make an announcement. Don’t let me say something that is not concrete yet.”

Vidic has confirmed he will leave Old Trafford at the end of the season, having moved to Manchester in January 2006. He has played almost 300 times for the Red Devils, captaining the side for much of his time.

The 32-year-old began his career at Red Star Belgrade and played for Spartak Moscow before Sir Alex Ferguson took him to United. There, Vidic has won the Premier League five times and the Champions League once, as well as a host of other trophies.

Inter are currently fifth in Serie A, 27 points behind leaders Juventus. Walter Mazzari’s side are 11 points short of a Champions League place.
