Former Liverpool managing director Christian Purslow has stated that he believes the Reds can win the Premier League this season, according to TalkSport.
The Anfield club finished in seventh place last season and Purslow now believes that Rodgers’ has turned the club around.
“I really think they can win the Premier League title,” said Purslow. “Just look at how they blitzed Arsenal and Everton at home.
“If Brendan Rodgers has changed one thing dramatically, it’s that Liverpool have become compelling at home.
“They’re very attacking. We’re a team that goes at the opposition at home. Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea will not look forward to those fixtures.
“The maths is simple. If we win those three games, it’s impossible to dispute Liverpool are in the title race.”
With only 12 games remaining, the final stretch of the season will be a real test of Liverpool’s mental toughness as vital clashes will determine if they end their season in glory.
Purslow also claimed that the lack of expectation added to the Reds’ success this season, with the players excelling when performing without pressures.
“The lack of expectation at the start of the season was a huge advantage for the players,” added the 50-year-old. “They were playing with freedom and without pressure.
“The acid test will be when people wake up to the fact that Liverpool have their best chance to win the league in 20-odd years. That’s when we’ll see whether the players can perform under pressure.”
