Manchester City right-back Pablo Zabaleta has said that his side must not deviate from their attacking style when they play Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League second round tie on Tuesday, writes BBC
Since Manuel Pellegrini took charge at the beginning of the season, he has introduced a very attack-minded approach to Man City, and it has resulted in the club scoring over 100 goals already this season, with striking duo Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo particularly potent.
And Zabaleta believes that he and his teammates must stick to the same tactics which have won them many admirers this season. He said: “It’s important we stick to our game, that we go on the attack because we have attacking players.”
The Argentine also acknowledged that it was the first time that this Man City side has reached the knockout stages of the Champions League, and that this represents a different challenge. He added: “For this group it’s something new, something important to be able to play against a big team like Barca and it’s important we enjoy it.
“It’s a special match because we know we will be coming up against one of the best teams in the world. For us it’s a very important match.”
