Everton manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed striker Romelu Lukaku is ready to return and will be involved against West Ham at the beginning of March, according to Sky
Lukaku is unavailable against Chelsea on Saturday as he is on loan to the Toffees from the Stamford Bridge club but will be included when the Hammers travel to Goodison Park a week later.
The Belgium international has been missing since injuring his ankle in Everton’s Merseyside derby defeat to Liverpool in late January. Martinez said Lukaku will be playing again soon and it’s now a matter of fitness rather than injury.
“Romelu is fully fit now and it’s just a matter of making sure that we get him back to his level of match fitness that he needs,” the manager said.
“From a medical point of view, he’s fit. It helps in a way that he’s not available for this weekend because this game may have been a little bit too early for him to be involved with the team.
“But now we’ve got nearly two weeks to make sure that he’s fully fit for the next home game and that’s very much a realistic target.”
Everton signed Lacina Traore on loan from Monaco in the transfer window as attacking back-up, the former Anzhi striker scoring on his debut on Sunday in the FA Cup win over Swansea. Martinez also sold Nikica Jelavic to Hull in January.
