Roberto Martinez has revealed he will be able to call on both Romelu Lukaku and Lacina Traore very soon, Sky
Lukaku was injured in the Merseyside derby defeat last month and hasn’t played for the Toffees since, while Traore, signed on loan from Monaco in the winter transfer window, is yet to make his debut.
Traore was however on the bench for Everton’s defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday and Martinez expects to have the Ivory Coast international available imminently.
“Lacina is progressing really well,” Martinez said. “I didn’t expect him to be available just yet but he is.
“It’s just a matter of giving him that match fitness to avoid any risk. He’s not far off, but I don’t think he’s ready to play 90 minutes yet.”
Everton’s next game sees Crystal Palace visit Goodison Park on Wednesday for the first time since a 4-0 defeat in April 2005.
On Lukaku, Martinez confirmed midweek would come too soon for the Belgium forward but it was a matter of weeks before he recovers from his ankle injury.
“We’ve had really positive news with Romelu and he’s back with us,” Martinez continued.
“He’s going to be ready very, very soon. If he’s not back this weekend, he will be next weekend. He has come back refreshed and fully fit and desperate to enjoy his football once more.”
Lukaku, on loan from Chelsea for the season, has scored nine goals in 21 games for Everton.
