Moyes needs time at Man Utd, says Neville

Gary Neville has said David Moyes needs time to prove himself as Manchester United manager, according to Sky Sports.

United, the defending Premier League champions, are currently seventh in the table, 16 points short of league leaders Chelsea and nine points adrift of fourth-place Liverpool, who hold the final Champions League qualification spot.

Neville however believes that United should stand by Moyes no matter what – even if United fail to reach the Champions League next season.

“At Manchester United, hard work always pays off and David Moyes is working a lot,” Neville told L’Equipe.

“Before Alex Ferguson, Tommy Docherty, Dave Sexton and Ron Atkinson also had time. They always got full support.

“David Moyes deserves as much time as his predecessors. Manchester United is not Real Madrid or Chelsea, clubs that sack a manager who has won trophies.

“Manchester United is different and has to remain different and I will repeat that even if they don’t qualify for the Champions League.”

United meet Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night, a ground Moyes never won at during his days at Everton.

Arsenal go into the game in second, 14 points ahead of the Manchester club.
