Everton have been dealt a blow after it was revealed that striker Lacina Traore will be out of action for several weeks due to a hamstring injury, Sky
The Ivorian, who arrived at the club on loan from Monaco in January, was originally named in the starting line-up for Saturday’s game at Chelsea, but injured in the warm-up and replaced by Steven Naismith. Injury has meant that Traore has only made one appearance for the club so far.
Romelu Lukaku should return for Everton in time to play in Saturday’s game against West Ham United, but manager Roberto Martinez is disappointed to be without the services of another of his strikers, though Traore is expected to be out for weeks rather than months.
Martinez said: “It is going to take a long period of time which at this stage of the season will be a big miss. It will be weeks rather than months. It’s a really disappointing outcome. He was ready and had been working really hard since he arrived at the club.
“Starting the game at Chelsea was the next target after Swansea and for him to pull his hamstring in the last action of the warm-up was a really disappointing moment.
“We are a little bit concerned. We are working with his parent club and making sure we get the right diagnosis. Lacina was really down after and we need to support him. We will find out over the next 48 hours how we will treat the injury.’
