Arsenal will be hoping to keep up the pressure on leaders Chelsea by winning at the Britannia Stadium, where they have only managed one win in six previous visits.
Hosts Stoke City have improved their performance levels in recent weeks, but a narrow defeat at Manchester City last time out has landed back in trouble, with just three points separating them from the drop zone. Their home record is still strong, however, and the pressure would be significantly eased should the Potters upset the odds and pull off another famous victory.
For Arsenal, this represents a very good chance to move clear of Man City, who are on Capital One Cup final duty on Sunday. Olivier Giroud was restored to the starting XI in the previous game against Sunderland and repaid manager Arsene Wenger with two superbly taken goals in a game which the Gunners dominated from start to finish, showing no ill effects from the disappointment they suffered against Bayern Munich.
Stoke could be handed a major boost with the return of defender Robert Huth, who has spent a lengthy period out following knee surgery. Oussama Assaidi will be out for several weeks.
Wenger must decide whether to hand a recall to Mesut Ozil, who was rested for the Sunderland game. Arsenal do have many injury concerns to contend with, with Laurent Koscielny, Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal all slight doubts.
