Liverpool will be hoping to follow on from their fantastic Merseyside derby performance with a win over struggling West Bromwich Albion.
With several of their relegation rivals also playing at home over the course of the weekend, West Brom know that avoiding defeat here is crucial. In their previous game, they squandered the perfect chance to gain a bit of breathing space, but saw a two goal lead at local rivals Aston Villa evaporate and end up becoming a 4-3 reverse, which has left them perilously close to the danger zone.
Brendan Rodgers could not have asked for a much better performance from his Liverpool side than the one they produced against Everton, which came after somewhat unconvincing showings against Aston Villa and Bournemouth. The 4-0 victory extended the Reds’ lead over Tottenham and Everton in the race for a top four place, but there was disappointment for the club on Friday as they were unable to sign Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka.
West Brom once again look set to be short in attack, with Nicolas Anelka ruled out with a knee problem and Stephane Sessegnon a doubt due to a groin injury.
The visitors remain without several key players including Daniel Agger, Jose Enrique, Lucas Leiva, Glen Johnson and Mamadou Sakho, but Joe Allen should return.
