Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that the cub will not rush Aaron Ramsey back from his thigh injury, the Guardian
Ramsey has now been out for six weeks, having been forced off in the 2-2 draw at Southampton on February 11. Despite being expected to make his return for Saturday’s game against Manchester City, Wenger has insisted upon not rushing the Welshman back to avoid the risk of aggravating a more serious injury.
“Ramsey is progressing well, but we need to be patient for a few more weeks,” Wenger told the club’s official website on Thursday. That came two days after he admitted that Ramsey had suffered a ‘minor setback’ in his rehabilitation.
Prior to sustaining the injury, Ramsey had been one of Arsenal’s standout players this season, scoring 13 goals and helping the club to the top of the Premier League. Since Ramsey was ruled out, however, the Gunners have slipped to fourth. He is now not expected to make his comeback until the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley against Wigan Athletic.
The former Cardiff City player is one of several key men currently sidelined at the Emirates Stadium. Mesut Ozil, Nacho Monreal, Abou Diaby, Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere are all currently on Arsenal’s lengthy injury list.
