Aston Villa will be looking to make it three Premier League wins in a row when they take on fellow mid-table side Stoke City.
The home side stood up to Chelsea and ended up achieving what was a brilliant victory, despite two dismissals for the visitors. Fabian Delph marked a fine individual performance with a stylish goal, while Villa’s improvement at the back this season was epitomised once again by captain Ron Vlaar, who is using all of his experience to help the club to a top half finish.
Stoke are also aiming for 10th place, and are on a decent run themselves, steering clear of the relegation zone over the past seven weeks with impressive wins over Manchester United, Arsenal and West Ham United. Against the Hammers, they responded well after going behind, and as Mark Hughes looks to achieve the Potter’s highest Premier League finish, he will be keen to improve on a disappointing away record.
Jores Okore and Libor Kozak are still out for Aston Villa, who welcome back Ryan Bertrand, who was unable to face Chelsea.
Jonathan Walters and Charlie Adam continue to serve suspensions for Stoke. Oussama Assaidi could come back from injury, but Stephen Ireland cannot play due to a clause in the deal that took him to the Britannia Stadium from Villa in January.
