Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic believes the Potters can push on off the back of their weekend win over Premier League title challengers Arsenal, Sky
A Jon Walters penalty gave Stoke the three points and Mark Hughes’ side are now 13th in the table, six points clear of the bottom three.
Begovic, who recently returned from a finger injury, now wants to see Stoke end the season on a high. “It was a huge win for us and it was a fantastic performance against a big team,” the former Portsmouth player said.
“It’s always great to get a clean sheet. I feel that one has been coming for a while, but we just haven’t had the luck that we would have wanted in recent weeks.
“The commitment from the team was great and it’s great to see the guys throwing their bodies on the line for the good of the team,” Begovic continued.
“It’s nice to perform well and get results against teams like Arsenal and hopefully it will set us up nicely for the rest of the season. As I say, it’s nice to not concede, but the most important thing is that we picked up a crucial three points.”
The clean sheet was Stoke’s first since mid-December, when they drew 0-0 with Steve Bruce’s Hull City. In that time they have conceded 26 goals in 14 games.
