Watford have signed former Liverpool winger Albert Riera on a contract until the end of the season, Sky
The Reds paid Espanyol £8m to sign Riera in 2008 but he was sold to Olympiakos for around half that amount two years later. The Spaniard later transferred to Galatasaray but was released by the Turkish giants in January.
He is due to join Udinese in the summer but will spend the rest of the season with the Hornets, who are owned by the same family as the Serie A club.
Riera won 18 caps for Spain and the 31-year-old made 55 appearances for Liverpool, as well as playing 19 times during a loan spell at Manchester City while still an Espanyol player.
He has also represented Mallorca, where he started his career, and French club Bordeaux, winning the Copa del Rey with Mallorca and Espanyol and league titles in Greece and Turkey.
Riera was also part of the Spain squad that finished in third place at the 2009 Confederations Cup, a year after La Roja won the European Championships.
