Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has insisted that Manchester City remain favourites to win the Premier League title despite the nine-point lead his side have over the Citizens, writes Sky
Jose Mourinho’s men have 66 points, seven points ahead of nearest rivals Arsenal and Liverpool, who are separated by goal difference. Man City are a further two point back, but have played three games less than the West London club, and have a better goal difference, which means that Man City are likely to become champions should they win all their remaining matches.
Mourinho has repeatedly stated in recent weeks that Man City are the favourites, and that he would rather be in their position, a view echoed by his goalkeeper, who said: “They are the main title rivals and favourites and now even more when they have three games in hand if they manage to win those games then they will be ahead.”
“The advantage with City is that they are out of the FA Cup so they have nothing more to play apart from the Premier League, so they can purely concentrate on that. Whereas we hope to progress to the Champions League and if you play it sometimes can be much harder.
“But the last three years we’ve been saving English football all the time – everyone got knocked out really early. We might be in the same situation again because let’s see how Man United may overcome their deficit but hopefully they will.”
