Man City’s Hart to face no further action over Boyd clash

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart is to face no further action from the FA over his clash with Hull City’s George Boyd during his side’s 2-0 win on Saturday, the Daily Telegraph is reporting.

With 10-man City leading 1-0 at the KC Stadium thanks to David Silva, Boyd went down under a challenge from Hart, although no contact appeared to have been made. Referee Lee Mason did not award a penalty to the hosts, but the incident resulted in a clash between the duo, with Hart claiming that Boyd had dived.

Hart’s furious reaction earned him a yellow card, but he will not face any further action, as the officials saw the confrontation. The FA will, however, study Mason’s report to see whether there is sufficient evidence to charge Boyd, who is accused of spitting at the England No. 1.

The FA could also take action against Man City captain Vincent Kompany, who reacted furiously to his early sending off in the same game by kicking a wall as he entered the tunnel leading to the dressing rooms. That could be interpreted as an offensive gesture towards fourth official Anthony Taylor.
