Man Utd’s Fellaini backs manager Moyes

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has backed manager David Moyes to be a long-term success at the club, Sky Sports has reported.

Fellaini was Moyes’ first major signing of his Old Trafford reign, arriving back in August after playing under the Scot for five years at Everton. However, Moyes has endured a largely difficult first season with the Premier League champions, with their hopes of making next season’s Champions League almost over.

Despite that, the 26-year-old has given his support to Moyes, insisting that it was always going to be hard to follow in the footsteps of predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson. Fellaini said: “You have to give David Moyes time as well. He is a strong character. That’s why he can take the pressure. Given time he will be good for Manchester United.

“Man United had the same manager for 26 years – to change that is not easy for anyone. The supporters and everybody else has to give him time.”

“He is the most important person in my career. I could never say something bad about him because he has done everything for me. He has done so much or me that of course I want to repay him at Manchester United.”
