Poyet: Treat each game as our last

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has told his side that they must treat each remaining Premier League game as if it was their last, according to Sky Sports.

Sunderland go into the weekend’s games in the relegation zone but have at least two games in hand on their fellow relegation battlers.

The 46-year-old has now tried to rally his players to focus on every game in hope of avoiding any regrets come the end of the season.

Sunderland are without a win since beating Newcastle 3-0 at the start of February and will be hoping to turn their fortunes around heading into Saturday’s crucial clash with Norwich.

“I think this is a crucial game for both teams. Every single game is crucial,” said the Uruguayan.

“The idea is to take every game as the last one – a cup final, people call it – you need to win this one to stay up.

“There are 10 teams at the bottom, if every single player gave everything from now to the end of the season, still three teams will go down.

“So the main thing is to be yourself, play the way you play, accept responsibility and go and give everything. Then, there are no regrets.”
